Fairy ~ Gnome House
This is a fairy ~ gnome house I made!
It all started with a cardboard box. Everything else was found on a nice walk with the three-year-old I was taking care of during the week. I was her Nanny for a few years. She's all "grown up" now and in school, so I have moved on to another family.
I did the work on building the house, and the garden was for her to create. We picked up sticks, rocks, and moss on our walk. The only cost was the hot glue. Your imagination can be endless making these.
So much fun!

Fairy ~ Gnome House
Supplies
2 cardboard boxes
large, shallow box or tray
sticks, rocks, moss, etc.
figurines, small props, etc.
box cutter / utility knife
garden clippers / pruning shears
hot glue gun
Instructions
1. Make the house structure by choosing a cardboard box of the size and shape desired for your house. This will be the walls, floor, and gables. Choose a side to serve as the front, and cut a front door and a window in the front box flap. You can cut windows into the other side walls if you wish.
2. To make the triangular gables, trim the corners off the attached front and back box flaps. It's okay if the gables don't come to a point on top - you'll be covering them with "siding" later. Cut off the side flaps. You can stabilize the gables by gluing or taping pieces of the side flaps inside each gable, overlapping the front and back walls of the house a little.
3. Cut another, slightly larger box to form a pitched roof and place it on top of the gables. Once you are satisfied with the size and placement of the roof, take it off the gables and re-set it using hot glue on the gable and side wall edges of the house.
4. Set the house in a large, shallow box or tray, leaving room for a front yard.
5. With hot glue, give your house some siding with sticks or rocks. You can use thicker wood pieces to outline the roof, if desired. Use moss to decorate the roof and walls and to fill in any remaining holes or gaps.
6. With more moss and rocks, "landscape" the yard in front of your house. Add figurines, signs and other props as desired.
